Nuetron OD for Diabetic & Pheripheral Neuropathy

Diabetic Neuropathy?

Diabetic Neuropathy is a nerve disorder caused by prolonged diabetes. People with diabetes may, over time, develop nerve damage throughout the      body.

 Symptoms include

Pain, tingling, or numbness

Loss of feeling in the hands, arms, feet, and legs.

Burning (especially in the evening)

About 60 to 70 % of people with diabetes have some form of neuropathy. The highest rates of neuropathy are among people who have had diabetes for at least 15 years.Diabetic neuropathies appears to be more common in people who have problems controlling their blood glucose, as well as those with high levels of blood fat, high blood pressure and  who are overweight.

The areas commonly affected by neuropathy are the feet and legs. Nerve damage in the feet can result in a loss of foot sensation, increasing your risk of foot problems. Injuries and sores on the feet may go unrecognized due to lack of sensation. Rarely, other areas of the body such as the arms, abdomen, and back may be affected.

Neuropathic pain makes the patients physically & mentally disturbed and frustrated

It is essential to

Prevent the neuronal damage and regenerating neurons

Relieve severe neuropathic pain

Improve patient's quality of life

Managing / Treating Diabetic Neuropathy

       Treatment focuses on three goals

to slow the progression of neuropathy.

to relieve pain.

to treat complications such as infections.

To slow the progression, it is critical to bring blood glucose to a normal level. Glucose monitoring, meal planning, physical activity and medications. Commonly used medications include antidepressants, anticonvulsants, pain killers and topical agents.

Many of these medications are actually approved for treating other conditions. They are used because of their positive effects.Depending on the medication, side effects may include constipation, dizziness, GI intolerance, headache, nausea, dry mouth, fatigue, diarrhea, weight gain and insomnia to name a few.
