Liver is the largest and important organ in the body. Liver is essential for digesting food and plays an important role in getting rid of toxic substances from our body.

Liver key functions:

  • metabolize most of the nutrients that are absorbed by the intestine

  • Store nutrients

  • produce proteins

  • detoxify blood by removing medications, alcohol, and potentially harmful chemicals from the bloodstream and treating them chemically so they can be excreted by digestive or urinary systems

Liver Disorders:

Different types of liver disorders include Hepatitis, Cirrhosis, Liver tumors, and Liver abscess (collection of pus), just to name a few.

Liver disease can be inherited (genetic) or caused by a variety of factors that damage the liver, such as viruses and alcohol use. Obesity is also associated with liver damage.

Over time, damage to the liver results in scarring called Liver Cirrhosis, which can lead to liver failure, a life-threatening condition.

Research has shown that patients with ALCOHOLIC LIVER DISEASE  and other Liver Disorders have abnormal methionine metabolism, which depletes an important substance called SAMe (S-Adenosylmethionine) in the body.

SAMe is a compound made primarily in the liver as a byproduct of the metabolism of the Amino acid and Methionine. Taking SAMe as a dietary supplement helps improve liver health. Haldane Pharma has launched SAMe in the brand name ENSAME-400

ENSAMe 400 Tablets

  • SAMe (S-Adenosyl L-Methionine) - 400mg

  • Mecobalamin - 500mcg

  • L-Methyl Folate - 500mcg

What does SAMe have to do with the liver?

There are three major functions that SAMe is involved in the human body: Transsulfuration, transmethylation, and aminopropylation. The first two are critical for proper liver function.

Through the process of Transsulfuration, SAMe is converted into a compound called GLUTATHIONE, a potent antioxidant and liver detoxification agent. It is an essential compound which plays a major role in protecting hepatocytes (liver cells) from waste products that the liver removes from the blood stream. Maintaining adequate levels of SAMe is therefore critical for healthy liver function.

SAMe also helps improve phospholipids production which promotes better bile flow through the liver's cell membranes. Proper bile flow enables the detoxification process in the liver to function correctly.

Why SAMe?

Normally, the body produces enough SAMe on its own from the amino acid methionine. However, as people age SAMe levels can decrease. This can potentially cause important Liver protecting processes  to slow down, or stop performing sufficiently.

Taking SAMe as a supplement may help replenish low levels, and may help the body resume its normal function. Healthy levels of SAMe can help maintain healthy liver function.

Clinical Evidence:

There are more than 100 clinical studies have been conducted, it has been proven that SAMe has clear benefits in Liver health.

Many Liver Physicians have been recommending SAMe successfully for the past 10 years.

To be taken as a dietary supplement in various liver conditions to improve liver health.
